This is a general application for the Divemaster role at GP. While there isn’t a specific opening right now, we will keep your application on file for when there is an opportunity!

————

This is a rare and extraordinary opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful cold water dive locations in the world! We are looking for someone to join the God's Pocket family & help guests have some of the best and most memorable dive experiences of their lives.

GP is open for diving trips between mid-March and the end of October. Trips are on average 6 nights, 5 dive days long, with 1 day between trips. We run 3 boat dives a day to sites that are well suited to the weather and tides, aiming to hit at least 1 slack per day.

As the divemaster/ deckhand, your responsibility will be to provide guests with a protected and enjoyable experience by helping make their cold water dive trip as easy, comfortable, and fun as possible. This means helping them:

- Put on / arrange their drysuits and SCUBA gear

- Hand camera gear off the boat to divers in the water

- Serve snacks and drinks between dives

- Fill tanks between dives

- Problem solve gear and dive related issues

There is no requirement to go on dives during the season, as the guests are led by the dive briefing and their trip leaders. That being said, there will be opportunities to splash between the last guest getting in the water and the first guest getting out of the water,

on many dives (conditions permitting and at the Captain’s discretion).

In addition, the role will involve helping the Captain with the general maintenance and upkeep of the lodge and helping the Chef and Front End team members during meal services.

The job will require you to set a strong routine and problem solve on the fly in a rapid paced environment. The right individual should have the following attributes, certifications, and skills:

Personal

- Canadian citizen or work visa for Canada

- Charismatic & personable

- Self motivating with a strong work ethic

- Off grid / remote location work experience

- Ability to multitask

- Able to lift 50lbs

Diving and Mechanical
- Minimum Divemaster qualification (dive organization does not matter)

- Cold water diving and current/drift diving experience

- Acquainted with west coast sea life

- Understanding of SCUBA equipment

- Marine MED/DVS and Basic or Marine First Aid are an asset

- Experience working on boats (ROC-M, PCOC are not required but useful)

- Mechanical skills are an asset

As well as basic duties, you will have the opportunity to dive, whale watch, kayak, and hike around Hurst Island.

All food and accommodation is included in the contract. There is a blended day rate that is earned every day (including the transition days in between) and paid out twice a month, and gratuities from guests are split evenly among the crew.
