Job Title: Experienced Embroidery Operator
Location: North York, ON
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Embroidery Operator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating Tajima or similar multi-head embroidery machines, with expertise in hooping garments and hats and a strong focus on quality assurance. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality embroidered apparel by ensuring precise placement, color accuracy, and consistent execution.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required, along with solid troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
- Operate and maintain Tajima (or similar) multi-head embroidery machines.
- Set up machines per job specifications, including thread selection, needle changes, and frame adjustments.
- Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to optimize quality and efficiency.
Hooping & Garment Preparation
- Expertly hoop garments and hats, ensuring proper tension and alignment for accurate embroidery.
- Select appropriate backing and stabilizers based on fabric type.
- Prepare garments for embroidery (e.g., folding, pinning, marking).
Quality Assurance
- Perform ongoing quality checks during and after embroidery runs.
- Ensure accurate design placement, thread color matching, and consistency across all pieces.
- Identify and correct defects before products move to the next stage of production.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve minor machine issues promptly.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, and inspecting machine components.
- Report recurring problems to supervisors for resolution.
Production Support
- Follow daily production schedules and meet order deadlines.
- Maintain accurate logs of production activities.
- Monitor and manage inventory of threads, backing, and other materials.
Communication & Team Collaboration
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and teammates regarding job status and any issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Follow detailed work orders and provide feedback when necessary.
Workplace Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating Tajima or similar embroidery machines.
- Proven expertise in hooping garments and hats across different styles and fabrics.
- Strong understanding of embroidery techniques, thread types, and fabric handling.
- Effective troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve common machine and design issues.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow precise instructions and work orders.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (e.g., boxes of garments, machine parts).
Preferred:
- Formal training in embroidery.
- Familiarity with other embroidery machine brands.
