Help Build the Next Generation of Service Technicians

We're looking for an experienced Field Training Specialist to lead the hands-on training and development of our Service Technicians across Northern Ontario. Based in Sudbury, you'll spend time in the field, the shop, and the classroom, coaching technicians, supporting supervisors, and ensuring every team member has the skills, certifications, and confidence to perform safely and effectively.

What You'll Do Deliver hands-on field, shop, and classroom training for new and existing Service Technicians.
Lead onboarding and technical development for new hires throughout their probationary period.
Develop, maintain, and track individual training plans, ensuring technicians meet competency requirements before working independently.
Coach technicians on safe work practices, quality standards, customer expectations, and company procedures.
Work closely with Branch Leadership, Supervisors, and the Quality team to evaluate technician readiness and identify ongoing development opportunities.
Deliver employer-authorized training, including:
Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems
Hydrostatic Testing
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
Scale Calibration
SCBA
Fall Protection
Breathing Air Systems
Other service-specific training as required
Conduct field observations, training audits, and customer site assessments, providing coaching and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
Assist with developing and improving training programs, procedures, and learning materials.
Communicate regulatory, manufacturer, and industry changes while supporting implementation across the service team.
Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement across multiple service lines.
What You'll Bring Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection, fire suppression, industrial safety, or related service industry.
Previous experience mentoring, coaching, leading, or training technicians is strongly preferred.
Broad technical knowledge across one or more service disciplines such as Vehicle Fire Suppression, Fire Alarm, Fire Extinguishers, Hydrostatic Testing, Fall Protection, SCBA, Instrumentation, or related industrial safety systems.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to coach individuals and small groups.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience maintaining electronic training records.
A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to customer sites throughout Northern Ontario and Eastern Canada.
Comfortable working in industrial and mining environments, including underground operations.
Ability to meet all pre-access and pre-employment requirements for customer sites, including Vale, Glencore, and other mining operations.
