General Surgeon– Full time

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a full-time General Surgeon to join our innovative, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital.

The successful candidate will join a team of three (3) general surgeons and can expect equitable access to operating room time and reasonable on call expectations. TADH supports over 1,500 inpatient and 2,500 day surgeries annually.

There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements

Candidates must

- have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with certification in General Surgery.
- be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as a General Surgeon in the Province of Ontario.
- have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.
- possess excellent surgical and clinical skills.
- have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.

Remuneration

Compensation is a combination of Fee-for-Service, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan, and a HOCC On-Call stipend.

Incentives





- The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
- Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
- Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,851 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.
