Position: Health & Safety Coordinator
Industry: Automotive Tier 1 Manufacturing
Location: KWC Area
Shift: Days
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent (Direct Hire)
Pay: $80,000 – $90,000
Qualifications Required:
- College or University Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of health and safety experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Solid understanding of industrial systems and equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
- Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to take initiative, lead change, and effectively manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety/data management systems
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated history of professionalism, dependability, and teamwork
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and support a safe and healthy workplace culture while maintaining compliance with ISO 45001 standards
- Serve as a trusted safety resource for employees by addressing concerns, providing guidance, and helping identify and reduce workplace hazards
- Advocate for employee well-being and ensure safety issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner
- Participate actively in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of workplace safety culture
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to integrate safety into daily operations
- Support new equipment and program launches through workstation reviews, risk assessments, and pre-start health and safety evaluations
- Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training programs to promote safe work practices
- Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance and ease of understanding
- Manage the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) system and ensure all documentation remains accurate and current
- Assist with safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, including identifying root causes and tracking corrective actions
- Monitor, analyze, and report key safety metrics to support ongoing improvement initiatives
- Foster a positive behavior-based safety culture through coaching, employee engagement, and reinforcement of safe practices
- Support contractor safety management and ensure all contractors comply with on-site safety expectations
- Participate in layered process audits and continuous improvement activities
- Assist with additional health and safety projects and responsibilities as assigned
