HOURLY RATE $49.64 per hour, Pay Grade 9 - Schedule “B” Outside Employees

Plus, additional per hour for the following qualifications, LOU #7:

$1.00 per hour for Motor Vehicle Inspection Qualification

$1.50 per hour for Emergency Vehicle Technician Level 1

$3.00 per hour for Emergency Vehicle Technician Level 2

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Commercial Mechanic, you’ll work in our well‑equipped City shop alongside a talented team of technicians, taking the lead on repairing and maintaining a wide range of municipal vehicles and equipment. This role offers the perfect mix of hands‑on mechanical work and variety, with opportunities to step into Truck Driver/Labourer duties when needed—keeping each day engaging and dynamic. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

- Grade 12 Diploma or GED

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES

- Valid Class three (3) BC Driver’s License with Air Endorsement
- One of:

Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification or Truck and Transport Mechanic Certification (formerly Commercial Transport)

EXPERIENCE

- A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a mechanic.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

- Proven experience with repairing and maintaining electric/electronic systems and brake systems (air/hydraulic)
- Routine maintenance of motor vehicles and emergency vehicles
- Upkeep of tools and equipment used in carrying out the duties of mechanic
- Experience with computers, including the use of fleet maintenance software
- A complete set of mechanic hand tools must be supplied by the incumbent

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- A complete set of mechanic hand tools must be supplied by the incumbent

- Ability to attain RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance
