Excavator Operator (35 - 80 Ton) Job Type: Seasonal / Full time / Camp / Rotation Takwata Builders LP is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects. Established to support mines and large‑scale construction initiatives within TTN’s traditional territory, Takwata operates a substantial fleet of earthworks equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. The company’s senior personnel bring extensive experience in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, pond and ditch development, and a wide range of earthworks projects of varying scale and complexity.

The Excavator

Operator (35–80 Ton) is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment to perform material handling, excavation, and fine grading tasks. This role includes conducting daily inspections, maintaining accurate logs, and ensuring all work is completed in line with safety regulations, company policies, and site requirements. The operator must be able to work independently, adapt to changing ground conditions, and communicate effectively with the crew.

Safe operation of an excavator. Handling and/or moving material. Perform daily housekeeping of equipment. Operate in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation,



company policies and procedures.

Perform Field Level Risk

Assessments prior to performing work. Perform a walk‑around inspection (circle checks) before, during, and after every shift, and report any discrepancies to your supervisor. Effectively communicate with all site personnel and co-workers.

Collaborate with construction crews and other equipment operators to ensure project goals are met. Minimum of five (5) years experience operating an excavator (job experience is a must). ~2-1 sloping in preparation for liner installation (capable of carrying a 2-1 slope). ~ Experience operating Komatsu, CAT, Hitachi equipment considered an asset. ~ Ability to safely operate excavators to perform a range of tasks. ~ Skill in maneuvering and adjusting controls to ensure precise operation. ~ Ability to prepare ground and ensure stability for excavator operation. ~ Ability to inspect and troubleshoot excavators for potential issues. ~ Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines for construction sites. ~ Excellent communication (English) and teamwork skills. ~ Able to ascend and descend equipment throughout the shift. ~ Able to work rotation and camp site job. #
