Instructional Designer Contract Length: 7 Months Location: Calgary Alberta(open to remote candidates wiling to work MST hours) Raise is currently hiring an Instructional Designer on behalf of our client.
The Instructional
Designer in this role will be responsible for researching, designing, creating, curating, implementing, and continuously improving full-cycle learning experiences that help team members build the capabilities needed to deliver business outcomes. The successful candidate will combine instructional design expertise, human-centred thinking, strong stakeholder partnership, and creative visual design to build learning experiences that are practical, engaging, measurable, and easy to apply in the flow of work. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand and help identify possible approaches to achieving the capability changes needed to support business outcomes Manages & coordinates, and in some cases facilitates learning programs through all phases including initiation, development, implementation / delivery, adoption, maximization, review, etc.
Designs learning interventions that satisfy each project and fit into the learning ecosystem Curates and develops internal and external content into meaningful learning experiences; tactfully uses Visual Design to enhance the experience and improve learning outcomes Works with Change Leaders to initiate & implement a learning portfolio that reflects holistic change enablement needs of a program or project understands how different learning experiences can impact learning outcomes,
and is able to use metrics to adjust content and program as needed Communicates with multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless professional implementation of learning and development programs and initiatives Minimum 5 years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, learning and development, organizational development, or a closely related role. Demonstrated experience designing and developing enterprise learning programs, courses, curricula, or performance-support materials. Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodology, learner needs assessment, course design and development, course authoring, and course management.
Experience developing learning for multiple modalities, including instructor-led, virtual, blended, digital, self-paced, and job-embedded learning. Strong project and program management skills, including planning, prioritization, coordination, delivery, and expectation management.
Experience measuring learning effectiveness and using data, feedback, and learner insights to improve programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify information and create transparent learner-facing content. Creative mindset with strong visual design, layout, multimedia, storytelling, and problem‑solving abilities.
Preferred Assets
Experience supporting onboarding, leadership development, enterprise learning, technical training, or capability‑building programs.
Experience working in a financial services, regulated, enterprise, or complex corporate environment.
Experience with human-centred design, design thinking, ideation methods, and change enablement practices. Portfolio examples that demonstrate strong instructional design, visual design, multimedia design, learner engagement, and measurable learning outcomes. Familiarity with course authoring tools, learning management systems, video development, and digital learning platforms.
