Salary range: $117,669.00 to $133,533.00 per year, 37.5 hours/week

Northern Allowance: $18,887.00 per year

Reporting to the Manager, Construction Trades, the Instructor, Oil Burner Mechanic Program is responsible for the planning, instruction, evaluation, and reporting of student learning in Nunavut’s Accredited Oil Burner Mechanic (OBM) apprenticeship program (levels 1, 2, and 3), and the College’s OBM pre-employment program. The instructor also provides support in the delivery of the Housing Maintainer apprenticeship program.

The successful candidate will have the expertise to deliver the approved curricula in both classroom and shop settings, ensuring protected and effective instruction that prepares students for employment and Interprovincial Certification.

Responsibilities

Other key responsibilities of the position include:

- Researching, developing, and updating curriculum and instructional resources to reflect Nunavut industry conditions and apprenticeship standards.

- Liaising with colleagues, industry partners, and apprenticeship officials to ensure program quality and relevance.

- Providing tutoring, mentoring,



and counselling to support student success and career development.

- Preparing evaluations, reports, and transcripts, and maintaining student progress and attendance records.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are typically acquired through the completion of apprenticeship training and trade/industry certification in the area of instruction with three (3) years of experience as a Journeyperson.

Assets include an Interprovincial qualification as an Oil Heat System Technician, Gasfitter Second Class (B) Certificate, a Certificate in Adult Education, experience mentoring an apprentice, and experience instructing vocational-technical students.

Short-listed candidates may undergo a vulnerable sector check as necessitated by the demographics of the learners participating in the program.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
