Job Title: Intermediate Engineer

Reports to: Senior Project Manager, Water Team

Status: Full time, Permanent

Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)

Salary: $110k - $130k

We are seeking an Intermediate Engineer to support the design, coordination, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. You will contribute technical expertise to a multidisciplinary team while providing design oversight, project management support, and mentorship to junior staff.

What You Will Be Doing:

Municipal Engineering and Design

- Lead and support the design of water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater drainage systems.

- Prepare and review engineering drawings, reports, and cost estimates.

- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using tools such as MIKE URBAN, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, or PCSWMM.

- Conduct grading design reviews for surface drainage and roadway projects.

- Oversee utility coordination, including crossing agreements and infrastructure reviews.

- Ensure design deliverables meet quality standards and technical requirements.

Project Management and Delivery

- Support proposal development and respond to RFPs with technical input and cost assumptions.

- Coordinate design schedules, budgets, and project documentation.

- Provide contract administration during construction, including reviewing submittals, progress claims, and contractor inquiries.

- Ensure compliance with construction contracts and quality control procedures.

Leadership and Collaboration





- Mentor junior engineers and technologists through project design and review.

- Collaborate across disciplines to integrate civil design with transportation, environmental, and structural components.

- Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are:

- P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) or P.Tech. designation (both considered)

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field)

- Minimum 8 years of experience in municipal infrastructure design and delivery

- Strong technical background in water, wastewater, and stormwater system design

- Proficient in Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and related design/drafting software

- Experience in project management, design coordination, and contract administration

- Skilled at interpreting drawings, specifications, and contract documents

- Confident communicator with proven stakeholder and client engagement experience

- Experienced in mentoring junior staff and providing QA/QC oversight

- Experience with hydraulic modeling software (PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM) is an asset

- Business development or proposal-writing experience is a strong plus
