Location: Hybrid(Downtown, Toronto)
Duration: 12 months
Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for an IT Project Manager - Hardware Currency to develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role:
Project Planning & Execution
- Manage on-premises infrastructure refresh and migration activities
- Coordinate implementation timelines, cutovers, maintenance windows, and deployment activities
- Ensure project deliverables meet established timelines and quality standards
- Drive completion of all project milestones and dependencies
Governance & Reporting
- Manage projects through the Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF) lifecycle and approval gates
- Prepare and present project status updates to leadership and executive stakeholders
- Provide ongoing reporting within CA-PPM
- Track project health, milestones, key deliverables, and performance indicators
- Maintain accurate project documentation throughout delivery
Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with engineering, network, infrastructure, and technology delivery teams
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders at multiple organizational levels, including executive leadership
- Coordinate with business and technology partners to ensure alignment and readiness for project milestones
- Facilitate decision-making and issue resolution across multiple stakeholder groups
Risk & Change Management
- Own and maintain project RAID logs
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies
- Lead project change management and baselining activities
- Escalate critical issues and support timely resolution
Vendor Management & Financial Oversight
- Work closely with delivery partners including Kyndryl, CA-Tech, and other technology vendors
- Coordinate vendor deliverables and implementation activities
- Support procurement-related activities where required
- Collaborate with Program Controls and finance partners to manage project financials
- Coordinate Requests for Service (RFS) and resource requirements throughout the project lifecycle
Deployment & Operational Readiness
- Coordinate approvals through governance forums including:
- ERB (Enterprise Review Board)
- EARB (Enterprise Architecture Review Board)
- OR (Operational Readiness)
- Ensure all approvals and requirements are met before progressing through delivery gates
- Plan and coordinate production change windows
- Facilitate go-live, migration, and cutover activities
- Support post-deployment stabilization and hypercare activities as required
This is primarily a project coordination and delivery leadership role. Technical implementation activities will be executed by engineering and contractor teams, while the Project Manager will drive planning, governance, communication, and execution.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 10+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager,
with a proven record delivering complex enterprise technology initiatives within large organizations
- Migration and infrastructure refresh project experience with hands-on experience planning and coordinating implementation windows and production cutovers
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Experience supporting projects involving one or more of the following technologies::
- F5 networking and application delivery platforms
- InfoBlox technologies
- Fortinet solutions
- Audio Visual (AV) infrastructure environments
- Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft 365 infrastructure upgrade initiatives
- Comparable enterprise networking or infrastructure platforms
- Experience from FI/banking
