Job Purpose

- Collect and dump refuse or recyclable materials from containers into trucks

Tasks

- Operate automated or semi-automated hoisting devices that raise refuse bins and dump contents into openings in truck bodies.
- Operate equipment that compresses collected refuse.
- Dump refuse or recyclable materials at disposal sites.
- Dismount garbage trucks to collect garbage and remount trucks to ride to the next collection point.
- Tag garbage or recycling containers to inform customers of problems, such as excess garbage or inclusion of items that are not permitted.
- Sort items set out for recycling and throw materials into designated truck compartments.

Requirements

- To be able to stand for long hours.
- To stoop and bend with ease
- To be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- To be able to step up into a truck repeatedly
- To work in an environment that often smells musty, putrid, or rancid
- To potentially work in an workplace that has seasonally high heat or low temperatures due to being outdoors
- To potentially work in an environment that has wet or humid conditions due to be being outdoors
- To work near moving mechanical parts

Qualifications

- Must be able to PASS DRUG SCREEN
- Must have a VALID Drivers License
