Grader & Classroom Assistant (Part-Time & Full-Time) – Kumon Math & Reading Centre (Legacy)

Our Kumon Math & Reading Centre in Legacy is hiring graders and classroom assistants, both part-time and full-time, to support students building stronger skills in math and reading. This role suits someone who enjoys working with children, takes pride in accuracy and organization, and wants hands-on experience in an educational setting - whether as a step toward a future in teaching or simply a meaningful job alongside school.

About the Role Kumon centres run on a structured, self-paced learning method, and graders/assistants play a key part in keeping that structure running smoothly. On a typical shift, you’ll be grading completed worksheets against answer keys, spotting patterns in where a student is struggling, and flagging those observations to instructors so lesson plans can adjust. You’ll also interact directly with students throughout class - answering questions, keeping them focused and encouraged, and helping the session run on time.

It’s a role that blends attention to detail with genuine people skills.

Schedule

Part-Time

- Tuesday: 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- Wednesday: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- Friday: 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- Saturday: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
- Minimum 1-year commitment requested

Full-Time

- Includes the part-time class hours above, plus additional weekday hours assigned by the centre director to assist with operations, admin, and other tasks as needed

Responsibilities
- Grade students’ math and reading assignments accurately and consistently




- Record student progress and communicate updates with instructors
- Supervise and motivate students throughout class sessions
- Prepare and organize worksheets; help keep classrooms clean and orderly
- Assist with day-to-day centre operations and administrative tasks, such as filing, scheduling materials, and light front-desk support
- Take on additional duties as they arise

Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience with Kumon or working with children is preferred.
- Robust communication and customer service skills
- Open-minded, reliable, organized, punctual, patient, and detail-oriented
- Able to manage frequent interruptions and shifting routines without losing focus
- Capable of multitasking with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with the rest of the team
- Comfortable in a quiet, structured, detail-heavy work environment for extended periods

Additional Notes
- Ongoing paid training will be provided outside of scheduled class hours, covering the Kumon grading method and centre procedures
- A security clearance check is required, given the direct work with children
- This position is well suited to high school or university students, and to anyone looking to build experience toward a career in education, child development, or tutoring

Pay: $13.00-$15.00 per hour
