We Light is looking for a full time Junior Lighting Designer to join our team in a role based at MCW Consultants in Toronto. This position is ideal for an emerging lighting designer or design professional with 1-2 years of experience in lighting design, interior design, architecture, electrical design, or a related field. We are looking for someone who is technically capable, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about lighting design.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with drawings and documentation, enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and is interested in developing deeper expertise in architectural lighting. This role is well suited for someone early in their career who has strong AutoCAD and Revit skills, a good design eye, and a genuine interest in growing within the lighting design industry.

The successful candidate will support the development of lighting layouts, documentation, fixture selections, and project coordination across a range of design projects. This posting is for an existing vacancy for a newly created position within MCW.

Location: Toronto, ON

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 (Salary is commensurate with the relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and alignment with the role requirements).

Responsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: Support the preparation of lighting layouts, drawings, and documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.

Assist with lighting design concepts for architectural, interior, commercial, institutional, and/or public projects.

Review architectural and construction drawings to help integrate lighting design requirements.

Assist with fixture selections, lighting schedules, specifications, and presentation materials.





Support lighting calculations and analysis under guidance when required.

Coordinate with architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors, and internal project teams as needed.

Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing revisions, and project files.

Ensure lighting design work aligns with client requirements, project standards, and applicable codes.

Support senior designers and project managers through design, tender, and construction phases.

Overtime as required Education &

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in lighting design, interior design, architecture, electrical design, or a related field.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior, electrical, and construction drawings.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables

Ability to communicate and work well with other departments

Keen interest in lighting design, architectural lighting, and the built environment.

Willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative lighting design environment.

Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible Preferred Technical Abilities:



Experience with AGi32, Dialux, Visual, or other lighting calculation software is considered an asset.

Experience with Adobe Photoshop.

Knowledge of lighting products, controls, photometrics, and fixture specifications.

Understanding of lighting design principles, energy codes, and industry best practices.

Experience preparing lighting schedules, specification packages, or design presentations.

Background in interior design or architecture with a strong interest in lighting.
