The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut which serves the housing needs of one of the fastest growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC’s mandate is to create, co-ordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, (www.igluliuqatigiingniq.ca) which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.

Reporting to the Corporate Comptroller, the Manager, Financial Reporting and Advisory Services, plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the NHCs financial statements and related reports. In this senior role, you will lead the preparation and coordination of the annual financial audit conducted by the Auditor General of Canada’s office (OAG) and oversee the implementation of recommendations arising from the audit. You will also oversee the financial reporting of 25 Local Housing Organizations across Nunavut, applying financial integrity and professional judgment to ensure all reporting is accurate, compliant, and aligned with sound financial management practices.

This role goes safeguards public funds,



strengthens relationships with auditors and funders, and helps ensure housing programs are delivered responsibly and sustainably, in alignment with Article 23 and the public service values of Nunavut.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will also include:

- Supervision of direct report(s) and providing training and coaching to departmental staff;

- Managing the preparation of interim, special and specific financial reports for 3rd party funding; and

- Providing advisory services and managing special projects.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation CPA (CGA, CMA or CA). An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or Economics with a minimum of three (3) years related experience in leading and/or participating in the year-end financial reporting process, financial management information systems, liaising with external and internal auditors, specifically from the OAG including 1 year of progressive managerial experience.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,



Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural setting are also considered assets.
