The Manager, Occupational Health and Safety is responsible for leading, promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace within a high-tech manufacturing environment. The role provides expert guidance on occupational health and safety requirements, supports injury prevention initiatives, and works collaboratively with leaders, workers, and joint health and safety committees to reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, this role will provide support for Redlen’s waste management, hazardous materials storage, spill prevention, and environmental controls.
Key Responsibilities
Health &
- Safety Program Management Lead the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Redlen’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System
Provide technical advice and interpretation of the Workers Compensation Act and OHS Regulations
Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits
Develop and maintain safe work procedures, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments Incident Management &
- Prevention Lead and support incident, accident, exposure and near‑miss investigations
Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventative actions
Lead complex risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and exposure evaluations
Track incidents, trends, and corrective actions and prepare dashboards and reports for leadership Industrial Hygiene &
- Exposure Control
Lead and oversee industrial hygiene assessments including noise, air quality, chemical, dust, fume, vapour, and ergonomic exposure assessments
Coordinate workplace exposure monitoring in accordance with WorkSafeBC exposure limits
Interpret sampling results and recommend engineering, administrative, or PPE controls
Maintain exposure records and industrial hygiene documentation
Support health surveillance programs where required
Liaise with occupational hygienists, laboratories, and consultants as needed Training &
Education Develop and deliver safety training programs, orientations, and toolbox talks
Ensure mandatory safety training is completed and documented
Coach leaders and employees on safe work practices and regulatory requirements Joint Health &
- Safety Committee (JHSC) Support Provide leadership and advise to the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including meeting preparation, reporting, and follow‑up
Ensure committee compliance with legislative requirements
Collaborate with worker and employer representatives to address safety concerns Regulatory &
- Stakeholder Liaison Lead and manage compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, including inspections, investigations, reporting, and documentation
Collaborate with Engineering in Hazard Risk Assessments of new equipment, processes and procedures.

- Culture Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership coaching
Manage and participate in safety improvement projects and initiatives
Provide ongoing safety advice to supervisors and managers across the facility Qualifications &
- Experience
Required Diploma or degree in Occupational Health &
- Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field
Minimum of 8 years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and best practices
Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments
Experience with ergonomics, chemical safety, contractors, and high‑risk processes
Proficiency with safety documentation, reporting, and data tracking Preferred / Assets Minimum OHA Level 2 First Aid certification
Professional certification (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent)
COR or ISO safety management system experience Skills &

Comfort working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment Working Conditions This is an in office role at our manufacturing facility in Saanichton, on Vancouver Island. Regular exposure to production areas requiring PPE
Redlen operates on a 24/7 schedule, some shift coverage may be required Salary Range: $95,000 - $135,000 CAD
