Overview / Responsibilities
Wood currently has an exciting prospect for a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op Student for the Spring / Summer semester. Reporting to the Discipline Lead, Mechanical & Piping Forest Industry. This position will be located in our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a keen interest in a fast paced and project oriented environment, this is the opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning and understanding work process flows as well as engineering protocols
- Preparing simple plans and reports; including engineering calculations and project documents
- Preparing 2D general assembly drawings and/ or 3D models using AutoCAD and other modeling software
- Carrying out design and/or equipment specifications under the supervision and guidance of senior personnel
- Assisting more experienced technical personnel with engineering design on light to heavy industrial and utility projects
- Providing support to as well as developing and establishing communication with internal Wood personnel in order to ensure that work flows smoothly across multi-disciplinary projects
Qualifications
- Successful completion of at least third year of an undergraduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience and knowledge of engineering design packages such as AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and rotating equipment design
- Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
