Medical Office Assistant

- - - Soonats'ooneh Health Society is a vibrant urban Indigenous Integrated Health Team Centre and educational facility situated on Lheidli T'enneh territory in Prince George, BC. The Clinic’s inter-disciplinary team provides trauma-informed and culturally safe, medical and psychosocial services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) supports the delivery of medical services to clients by helping them access and navigate Soonats'ooneh’s multidisciplinary clinic in parallel to completing day-to-day tasks necessary to support the clinic and team members. This position is evening hours, 1:00pm to 8:30 pm.

Key Responsibilities

- Ability to perform administrative duties such as: handling referrals, booking patient appointments, answering phone, updating the EMR system and coordinating physicians' clinic
- Strong skills in critical thinking, decision-making, analysing, communication, de-escalation and conflict resolutio
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building with the people we serve, members of the interdisciplinary team and community partner
- Ability to exercise confidentiality, and exert tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or a sensitive nature
- Successfully navigates a fast paced, ever-changing setting
- Ability to identify priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively





Qualifications
- Grade 12 graduation
- At least 1 year recent MOA experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Customer Service experience
- Must be computer proficient
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture
- A willingness to embrace an Indigenous world view to better serve our clients
- Electronic medical records experience (an asset)
- Knowledge of harm reduction (an asset)
- Naloxone training (an asset)
