POSITION PURPOSE The primary purpose of this role is to lead CA Church in local and global mission. This includes teaching, equipping, and leading others in missions opportunities. The Mission Pastor will ensure that the mission of Jesus is emphasized and regularly practiced by CA Church.
The Mission Pastor will nurture an environment where:
- every person in our church family will grow in taking responsibility for advancing the mission of Jesus, learning to live as missionaries in their local communities, and responding to God’s call on their lives.
- CA Church generously cares for the poor in our local community and through our global partners.
Note: Depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate, this position may be structured with a narrower scope, focusing exclusively on Global Mission rather than the full range of responsibilities.
YOU WILL
Lead Teams
- Give oversight and leadership to mission staff team, including 3-5 direct reports
- Recruit and equip the volunteer Mission Leadership Team
- Integrate mission with all ministries and campuses of CA Church
- Discern and champion current opportunities for CA Church to participate in God's mission locally and globally.
- Provide oversight to mission financial planning,
collaborating with existing financial systems, policies, and teams
- Inspire CA Church toward participation in mission, including:
- ensure multi-generational participation in both local and global mission
- Participate as a member of the pastoral team through preaching, pastoral care, leadership meetings, and other ministry responsibilities as assigned.
Oversee Global Mission
- Lead short-term mission trips, including
- Complete annual evaluations of global partners, and discern future engagements with partners
- Strategically engage church in fundraising initiatives, ensuring financial commitments to global partners are met
Oversee Local Mission
- Provide visionary leadership and direction to the local mission team
- Maintain relationships with local partner organizations
- Administer the Community Response Fund - a benevolent fund for our local community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in theology or the equivalent
- Experience in leading staff teams
- Experience recruiting and training volunteers
- Experience in local and global missions
- Strong one on one, written, and large group communication skills
- Able to be accredited with the Christian & Missionary Alliance
