About the Role
At Mobility Care Co., our mission is to dramatically improve the independence, comfort, and quality of life for our clients across Lanark County and surrounding communities. We sell, rent, customize, and service essential home healthcare equipment, including manual and power wheelchairs, seating systems, daily living aids, and home accessibility products.
We are looking for a practical, compassionate, and versatile professional to join our team as a Mobility Specialist & Field Technician. In this role, roughly the majority your time will be spent in the field—visiting client homes, retirement residences, and healthcare facilities—with the remaining will based in our Perth shop managing custom bench repairs, inventory, and shop maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Operations, Client Consultations & Deliveries (~75%)
- Travel throughout the region using a company service vehicle to deliver, set up, adjust, and repair mobility equipment on-site.
- Work directly with clients, family members, and healthcare professionals (such as Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists) to conduct mobility assessments and equipment trials.
- Observe client living environments during home visits to identify and recommend complementary safety products (e.g., bathroom safety aids, ramps, pressure-relief seating, power lift chairs).
- Provide patient, friendly product instruction and demonstrations to end-users and caregivers.
2. In-Shop Assembly & Technical Repairs (~25%)
- Assemble, inspect, customize, and complete complex shop repairs on manual and power wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and seating systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical components, small electric motors, electronics, and battery systems.
- Complete pre-delivery equipment setups according to precise therapist and client specifications.
- Receive, label and store inventory, verify incoming equipment,
parts and supplies against purchase order and packaging documentation, lookup parts, and prepare staging areas for upcoming service calls
3. Shop & Facility Stewardship
- Keep the Perth facility, service shop, receiving area, and company service vehicle clean, organized, secure, and presentable.
- Perform basic handyman fixes, facility maintenance, and routine waste/recycling management.
- Oversee equipment cleaning, automated disinfection, and staging.
4. Computer Skills
- Will need to be familiar with inventory management systems.
- User will be responsible for entering and maintaining specification sheets and client information
- Some data entry into the ERP system
What We Are Looking For
- Technical Aptitude: Experience in mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, and equipment repair (e.g., automotive technician, mechanical engineering, small motor repair, factory equipment maintenance, or electro-mechanical assembly).
- Consultative & Advisory Skills: Comfort interacting directly with clients and healthcare partners to evaluate needs, explain technical equipment, and recommend additional mobility solutions.
- Empathy & Compassion: Patient, respectful, and caring demeanor when working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, and healthcare professionals.
- Handyman Skills & Independence: Self-motivated mindset with the ability to manage your day in the field, solve minor shop/building issues, and maintain an organized workstation.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift, load, and position heavy equipment (up to 70 lbs).
- Driver Requirements: Valid Ontario G Driver’s License with a clean driving record (required for operating company service vehicles) and the ability to pass a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
