For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.
Reporting to the Director, Clinical Services, the Nurse Manager Surgical Services provides leadership, authority and accountability for the nursing practice and delivery of care to patients and families in the Operating Room. The incumbent collaborates with patient, family, health care team, and other hospital services to ensure the effective provision of Surgical Services.
The Nurse
Manager is also a member of the team that directly assesses patient status and responds to actual or potential health problems, plans and performs interventions; evaluatues patient outcomes following standards, guidelines and scope of skilled nursing practice, with the intention of maintaining and regaining patient health.
Additional key responsibilities include
- Ensuring that the preparation, delivery and evaluation of clinical servies are in accordance with evidence based practice, standards of care, and Accreditation Canada standards;
- Providing professional and clinical supervision;
- Planning,
implementing and managing the surgical services budget;
- Leading and supporting the development of the surgical services team; and
- Participating in quality improvement activites focused on patient care.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through an undergraduate degree or diploma in Nursing, plus five years relevant experience as acute care Registered Nurse with three years of related leadership experience in a relevant healthcare environment. Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN.
Assets for this positon include: Experience in surgical service, a Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration or Quality Improvement; experience in budgeting and finance.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit,
Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
