Reporting to the Director Kivalliq Health Centre, the Nurse Manager Inpatient Services is responsible for providing leadership, direction and support to the general duty nurses, nursing support staff. The incumbent works with nursing staff to provide professional nursing services in an inpatient setting but with a community approach to all community members, as individuals, families, and groups.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will also include:
- Managing the program, services and operation of inpatient areas.
- Directing the provision of inpatient health services.
- Providing support to midwifery program.
- Promoting health awareness at the levels of prevention.
Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing, plus five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in Inpatient Services with two (2) years of management experience involving supervision of staff and budget management. Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a explicit Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities,
culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.
An eligibility list may be created to fill future vacancies.
