Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is actively recruiting individuals for the following ad hoc offshore positions:

Ad hoc IRATA Rope Access Technicians Level I, II and III

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

- Work as a part of a rope access team performing various maintenance and repair tasks in an offshore environment
- Assist in the planning and preparation of work scopes to determine if they can be performed using rope access techniques
- Prepare written rescue plans for specific rope access scopes of work
- Assist in the management and control of the offshore inventory of rope access equipment, including scheduled detailed inspections
- Ensure all equipment is in fit-for-purpose condition and quarantine any defective materials.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports of hours worked on/off ropes
- Must be conversant with all relevant standards, specifications, rules, regulations etc. including Permit to Work (PTW)

Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

- IRATA rope access certification, Level I, II or III
- Thoroughly familiar with the IRATA Code of Practice, TACS and expectations of reporting as they relate to rope access activities and incidents
- Any combination of experience and / or education in the skilled trades (e.g. pipefitting, electrician, instrumentation, painting, insulating, etc.) would be considered and asset
- Possess mechanical aptitude with the desire to continuously build and share knowledge and skills




- Use of portable hand tools and precision measuring tools
- Formal PPE inspection qualification would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of offshore processes and permit to work systems

For this position, training is required for offshore travel. While it is preferred that candidates already have the below certifications, some training may be provided.
- Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
- Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
- Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
- NL Fall Protection
- NL Confined Space Entry
- Emergency First Aid
