Ophthalmologist– Full-Time

Join our team in beautiful Northern Ontario!

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a full time Ophthalmologist to join our innovative, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital.

TADH is searching for a second provider to join our ophthalmology department. The successful candidate will enjoy access to ophthalmic surgery OR, laser suite WITH Nd-YAG, Argon and diode capabilities as well as a minor procedure room to support a truly comprehensive ophthalmology practice. With this appointment the candidate will receive full surgical privileges with generous operating room time

There is also an prospect to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and ophthalmology residents from the University of Toronto.

You will be joining a team that provides exceptional patient and family-driven care, in a supportive trauma-informed, and culturally safe manner. We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join us in our Mission: Providing Exemplary Care to Northerners.

Position Requirements

Candidates must

- have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with certification in Ophthalmology.
- be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an ophthalmologist in the Province of Ontario.
- have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.
- possess excellent surgical and clinical skills.
- have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.

Remuneration

Compensation is a combination of Fee-for-Service,



a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan, and a HOCC On-Call stipend.

Incentives

- The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
- Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
- Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,851 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.

About the Hospital and Community The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 215-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health and Addiction Services. Affiliated with the NOSM University, in addition to several colleges and universities in Ontario, our hospital actively supports ongoing learning opportunities for medical residents and learners, post-secondary and high school students.
