Overview / Responsibilities
Wood performs consulting and EPCM services for many of Pulp and Paper clients throughout the world.
Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Paper/Pulp Machine Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Forest Industries. This position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. Travel will be required. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluating and developing Paper/Pulp Machine upgrade studies and implementation projects
- Working closely with the client in a team environment to help troubleshoot and optimize process to ensure efficient manufacturing
- Preparing and upgrading process design
- Providing process technical support to paper/pulp mills in solving day-to-day problems
- Managing resource allocation, proposals and client reports
Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree in an Engineering discipline
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Pulp and Paper industry with a focus on Paper and Pulp Machines
- A well-developed understanding of the process requirements and equipment of a Paper/Pulp Machine - Equipment would include:
- Saveall
- Cleaners & Screens
- Headbox
- Fourdrinier and Gap formers
- Press section including shoe presses
- Dryer
- Size Press
- Reel and Winder
- Broke System
- Cutter Layboy and bailing line
- Proven experience in Pulp and Paper operations
- Good communication skills including excellent oral, written and presentation skills for communication with internal team, stakeholders and clients
- Good planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel to field locations as required and maintain Class 5 driver license in a good standing
