- Day-to-day oversight of the payroll function and the team.
- Responsible for payroll accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure 100% compliance with existing internal controls
- Responsible for ensuring that all payroll processing controls, and narrative is kept up to date and accurate
- Prepare payroll scorecard on key payroll metrics
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external business partners
- Process timely and accurate garnishments
- Review and approve reconciliations of payroll related balance sheet accounts and related journal entries
- Continuously identify and develop solutions for process efficiency improvements to improve productivity
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and provincial laws, ensure accurately and timely payroll federal and state related government and agency reporting including.
- Manage payroll related audits
Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of managing a Canadian multi-province payroll department. Multi provincial payroll will be highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of payroll software platforms like Ceridian Day-force, ADP Workforce, Sage 50 etc.
- Working knowledge of Kronos/Oracle R12 System for HR, Time / Labor and General Ledger
- Excellent problem solving / judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence and ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
- Excellent organization skills, ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines is required
- PCP/CPM will be considered an asset.
