The position of ACA School Principal requires strong Godly leadership and the ability to multitask and effective organizational skills. It is a forward-thinking, multifaceted role, created to care for and guide the educational team of ACA.
Qualifications
The ACA School Principal must be a born-again Christian who is in full agreement with our Statement of Faith, agrees to abide by the school's Moral Conduct Policy, and is committed to fulfilling the school's mission and vision. This individual must hold a Bachelor of Education degree, an Alberta Education Permanent Teaching Certificate and the Alberta Education Leadership Quality Standard certification (or work towards LQS in their first year of the position).
The ACA School Principal must have a reputation for Godly leadership, integrity, strong problem solving skills and a passion for successful student learning, and must align with the mission and vision of ACA.
Accountability
- Reports directly to the ACA Head of School (HoS)
- Will be evaluated as frequently as annually by the Head of School
- Operates as a member of the Executive Leadership Team
- Provides effective feedback to the Head of School
- Provides leadership to the ACA Associate Principal
Spiritual Responsibilities
- To model in speech, actions, and attitude a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- To show by example the importance of the Word of God, prayer, fellowship and Christian service.
- To follow the Matthew 18 principle while addressing conflicts with students, parents, administration and staff.
- To recognize that parents have the primary responsibility before God for their children's education and to assist them in that task.
- To help students understand God's love for them, to motivate them to accept His gift of salvation and to help them grow in their faith.
Skilled Responsibilities
- To utilize educational opportunities,
processes and wise counsel for professional growth.
- To provide input and recommendations to the administration regarding the effective operation of the school.
- To attend, lead and participate in scheduled devotional, committee, faculty, and PT Connections meetings.
- General Responsibilities - to be owned or delegated
- Promote high academic and personal expectations for Educational staff and all students
- Help to create a spiritually focused, vibrant, caring school culture
- Communication with Teachers, Resource Coordinator and Office Staff
- Teacher Observation/Evaluation
- Ensuring the observation of the EA team in conjunction with the Resource Coordinator
- Oversee and administer school policies and procedures
- Continually endeavour to improve the operational effectiveness of the school
- Co-ordinate and foster the development of programs within the school to best meet the needs and interests of the students
- Lead and assist teaching staff with delivering a quality Christian education to students
- Promote and insist upon the professional and academic growth of your staff
- Be actively involved in the Educational budgeting and financial oversight
- Human Resource Meetings with Staff and HR
- Scheduling – timetables, supervision and DT schedules
- Giving direction and support to Teachers with Student and Parent Relationships
- Secondary Divisional Staff Meeting Prep/Leadership
- Course Scheduling/Planning
- Curriculum Review and Implementation
- Attending/helping with school events
- Educational Admin Team Meetings - Chaplain, Resource Coordinator, Vice Principal
- Reviewing and approving IPP's
- Winter Activity Day Planning
- Helping Organizing First/Last day of school activities
Full-Time Equivalency:
1.0 FTE
Compensation:
Varies based on Years of Teaching Experience and Education
