Were looking for a skilled Product Engineer (P.Eng or equivalent) to take a lead role in designing and developing innovative product solutions. This position is focused on creating products that are practical to manufacture, cost-effective, compliant with safety and testing standards, and aligned with customer and market needs. Youll be working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment where attention to detail, technical expertise, and teamwork drive success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering of new products from concept through to production, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability are optimized.
- Investigate and apply current materials and manufacturing techniques while keeping supplier capabilities in mind.
- Develop and refine designs through modeling, prototyping, testing, and iteration.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation in compliance with internal standards and ISO requirements.
- Partner with internal teams and external partners to ensure designs meet customer expectations, regulatory standards (BIFMA, CGSB, UL/CSA, UBC, IBC), and industry best practices.
- Coordinate prototype builds and support pre-production runs for validation, testing, training, and showroom purposes.
- Contribute to cost optimization efforts through material analysis, supplier collaboration, and value-engineering initiatives.
- Support product launches with detailed technical packages,
process reviews, and cross-department collaboration.
- Assist with resolving product-related issues, warranty concerns, and quality improvements with both short-term fixes and long-term solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends, sustainability practices, and advances in engineering and design processes.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education/experience.
- Professional Engineering License (P.Eng) or equivalent is required.
- 5-7 years of experience in product design and manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, plastics, wood, glass, etc.).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and detailed design) and familiarity with SolidWorks PDM preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems in engineering/manufacturing is an asset.
- Solid understanding of ANSI/BIFMA standards.
- Hands-on experience in prototyping and model making.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Whats Offered:
Compensation: $80,000 - $85,000 annually
