Summary

Managing mold, jig, and fixture design while acting as the primary liaison between clients and the tool room. Supporting the plant with industrial engineering and quality initiatives to ensure accurate and productive production.

Position Summary The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating project management activities between clients and the plant, specifically for plastic injection mold products. This role ensures that designs meet client specifications, support production needs, and align with quality standards. Additionally, the role involves assisting with industrial engineering initiatives and quality improvement projects across the plant to optimize production accuracy and efficiency, including the oversight and coordination of all plant maintenance activities.

Job Duties:

General

- Act as the primary point of contact for clients to gather and clarify project requirements for injection and carbon molds.

- Create and review designs using CAD software, ensuring they are functional, cost-effective, and production-ready.

- Coordinate with the tool room staff on mold, jig, and fixture fabrication,



modification, and repair.

- Develop and implement jigs and fixtures to enhance the accuracy and repeatability of part production.

- Support the plant in areas of industrial engineering by analyzing workflows and recommending improvements.

- Collaborate with the quality team to develop solutions that improve part consistency and reduce defects.

- Costing of projects and coordinating the pricing with customers.

Project Coordination
- Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure on-time delivery of molds.

- Communicate progress updates to clients and internal stakeholders, addressing any concerns promptly.

- Liaise between clients, tool room staff, and production teams to align project goals.

Industrial Engineering and Quality Support
- Work with the plant operations team to improve process flow and production efficiency.

- Assist in implementing quality assurance practices and tools to maintain high standards.

- Develop and implement tools and systems to reduce production variability and improve output accuracy.

- Support the plant in overall maintenance management, coordinating with internal and external contractors.

Continuous Improvement




- Identify opportunities to enhance design processes and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.

- Stay informed on advancements in tooling, jigs, and fixture technology to integrate best practices.

- Promote innovation and continuous learning within the tool room and across the plant.

Other Duties
- Produce detailed reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

- Train and mentor tool room staff and apprentices in design and fabrication techniques.

- Travel as required to meet with clients, attend training, or oversee critical project phases.

Required Skills and Attributes

- Expertise in injection mold, jig, and fixture design, including proficiency in CAD software.

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines and budgets effectively.

- Solid understanding of industrial engineering principles and quality assurance practices.

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for client and team engagement.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.

- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling.

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
