Position: Proposal Writer
Closing: Posting will remain open until filled
Term: Full Time (35 hours per week)
Salary Range: $54,800- $64,400

We are currently seeking a Proposal Writer. This position is available from any one of our office locations.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Housing Development, the Proposal Writer will work closely with the OAHS Leaders to craft winning proposals that effectively convey our company’s strengths, values, and qualifications, as well as support the OAHS long term Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities will include, gathering information, administrative tasks associated with proposal process, formatting the information according to the funder(s) requirement and company policies, obtaining supervisor approval, and sending the proposal to the appropriate source. The successful candidate, will do much more than craft compelling narratives—you will ensure our proposals genuinely reflect the communities we serve and will intentionally weave Indigenous culture, values, and ways of knowing into the fabric of every submission, ensuring our proposals, methodologies, and partnerships are culturally grounded, respectful, and impactful from the very start.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- ork with multiple department leads to assemble materials and manage the entire proposal process from start to delivery;
- Develop and maintain core proposal content in proposal library/archive;
- Develop individual proposal response strategies by identifying and clarifying requirements, eligibility and evaluation criteria, studying solicitation documents and participating in and/or leading proposal team meetings;
- Identify sources of information and conduct interviews with subject matter experts and convert information into written proposal responses;
- Establish priorities and timelines for information gathering, writing, reviewing, and approving;
- Coordinate requirements with content contributors and provide proposal status information to Leaders at team meetings;
- Create and write competitive proposal content and manage the submission process;
- Edit and revise proposal according to Leaders feedback;
- Assemble proposal documents for final submission and ensure proposals are formatted according to specific requirements;
- Ensure that deadlines for proposals and submissions are met;
- Seek and obtain internal quality control and approvals as per company policy, prior to submission; and,
- Track requests and submissions and manage the proposal completion process to ensure that proposed projects and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses are completed and delivered by the required due date.
- Champion Social Procurement & Indigenous Workforce Development by leading the integration of social procurement in proposals by securing funding for Indigenous training, apprenticeships, and workforce development that support housing delivery across Ontario’s CMHC housing continuum; Drive Sponsorships, Donations & Indigenous Partnerships by identifying and integrating sponsorship, donation, and partnership opportunities into proposals, advancing Indigenous led, culturally appropriate housing initiatives and enhancing community impact across Ontario.
To qualify for this role, the successful candidate will have the following qualifications and core competencies:
- Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, values and worldviews;
- Commitment to, integrating Indigenous cultures, worldviews, and ways of knowing into project goals;
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or related field;
- 5 years of proposal writing or grant writing experience;
- Proven track record of writing successful, persuasive proposals;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent research and analysis skills;
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;
- Good knowledge of Government (all levels as well as various departments) Programs and Private funding sources;
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office;
- Strong understanding of and appreciate for Indigenous history, cultural values, and housing as a human right.

- Valid CPIC clearance (Criminal Records check);
- References; and,
- Current, valid Ontario Driver’s License and safe driving record.
