For full time and permanent positions, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year. For Job shares, salary, bonuses/allowances are pro-rated in accordance with hours worked.
The Registered Nurse (RN) OR/ /RR/Day Surgery/CSR is a member of the surgical team that focuses on identifying and meeting the individual needs of the surgical patients throughout the perioperative experience.
The Registered
Nurse provides excellent care to the surgical population using critical thinking skills guided by the Perioperative Standards through the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) Standards, Guidelines and Position Statements. Working in collaboration with the health care team, the Registered Nurse OR/ RR/Day Surgery/ CSR uses basic and expanded nursing knowledge to address the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural and spiritual responses of the patient of the surgical event, with the objective of maintaining or regaining optimal patient health.
Responsibilities
Services offered include, but are not limited to, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT,
Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and Dental Surgery. Knowledge of procedures in all areas is required in order to provide quality surgical care.
Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Degree or Diploma in Nursing and minimum two years of recent acute care experience with one-year recent experience within an Operating Room setting. Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN. Current CPR and annual recertification is a requirement.
The incumbent must have possession of one or more of the following would be preferable but not required upon initial hiring: WHMIS, PALS, ACLS, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Back Injury Prevention Program, EKG interpretation, Fit testing. Upon hiring, the incumbent must be able to acquire these certifications and remain current within 12 months of hire.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit,
Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural setting are also considered assets.
