HealthOPM is seeking a Casual Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to support a retirement home in Mississauga within a dementia / memory care unit. This role is ideal for nurses experienced in seniors care, cognitive impairment, and responsive behaviours, with strong EMR Med e-Care documentation skills and the ability to work adaptable casual shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents in a retirement home dementia and memory care unit
- Support residents living with Alzheimers, dementia, and cognitive decline
- Administer medications and treatments according to nursing standards and physician orders
- Complete accurate and timely charting using EMR Med e-Care system
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to interdisciplinary team
- Assist with care planning, behaviour management, and resident safety
- Maintain infection prevention and control standards
- Support a safe, respectful, and person-centred care environment
Qualifications
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
– Active license with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Experience in long-term care, dementia care, or memory care required
- Familiarity with EMR Med e-Care strongly preferred
- Minimum 1 year RPN experience in LTC, retirement, or seniors care setting
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation, and communication skills
- Comfortable working with responsive behaviours and cognitive impairment
- Flexible availability for casual shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)
Compliance Requirements
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) – Valid within 12 months
