Job Title: Professors (Part time/Sessional) - Aircraft Maintenance Department: School of Aviation and Aerospace Technology Location: Aviation Campus – North Bay, ON Contract Duration: Academic Year 2026 – 2027 (Fall, Winter and Spring semesters – each semester is 14 weeks in duration excluding Reading Week) Application Deadline: Posted until filled As a national leader in aviation maintenance education, the School of Aviation and Aerospace delivers Transport Canada approved programs and is committed to developing skills, safety-conscious, and job-ready Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs). Under the direction of the Chair, School of Aviation and Aerospace Technology, the Professor leads and supports learners through effective teaching practices, curriculum delivery, and the creation of a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This role will have a primary emphasis on AME-M (Maintenance) instruction teaching across the curriculum, as needed.
The successful candidate will bring extensive industry experience, strong technical expertise, and a passion for developing the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals.
Qualifications: Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license in good standing
Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in aircraft maintenance
Demonstrated expertise in: DC circuits and wiring techniques and AC circuits
Basic avionics
Standard practices
Materials and inspections
Other courses,
as assigned (refer to curriculum Aviation Technician – Aircraft Maintenance - Canadore College) Experience with standard practices and general maintenance procedures
Familiarity with Transport Canada CAR 566 standards
Familiarity with Ontario college system and Transport Canada approved training programs
Experience with simulation or technology-enhanced learning
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a college setting.
Excellent record of teaching experience along with relevant work experience in the professional field or discipline appropriate to the area of instruction.
Experience with a Learning Management System (e.g., Desire2Learn, Blackboard, etc.), including the creation of discussion forums, tests, assignments, chat rooms, to edit and modify course content when required
Evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge and achievements in the field appropriate to the area of instruction
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to reliably commute to the Aviation Campus of Canadore College in North Bay, ON required Responsibilities: Teach regularly scheduled classes and promote safe, inclusive, and engaging learning outcomes aligned with industry standards
Work closely with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
Perform all responsibilities associated with the learning environment including preparation, delivery, and evaluation of theory, and practical learning activities
