We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical/Substation Engineer to join our engineering team on a full time basis. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment alongside an experienced technical team, where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process for high-voltage electrical facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of substation design packages, including layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, ground grid designs, grounding details, cable layouts, and control building electrical design for voltage levels ranging from 25 kV to 240 kV.
- Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to ensure design conformance.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and assist in studies such as grounding, lightning, lighting, and AC/DC load studies.
- Support the development of technical specifications for equipment and materials.
- Review vendor drawings and documentation for compliance with specifications and project requirements.
- Help maintain bills of materials for substation installations.
- Participate in reviewing engineered deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide construction and commissioning support under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collect and organize project engineering data and vendor information.
- Contribute to resolving technical and project challenges as part of the engineering team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in a Canadian province.
- 2–5 years of experience in electrical substation design or related engineering work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Good understanding of electrical theory and mathematics.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Problem-solving mindset with willingness to learn from senior team members.
- Familiarity with relevant Canadian electrical codes and standards (e.g., CEC, CSA, AEUC, OESC) considered an asset.
