Our Tool Designers are accountable for designing Jigs & Fixtures for use in aircraft assemblies, sub-assemblies and tools for detail parts. These designs assist in the manufacturing process to ensure that our aircraft build conforms to the Type Design.
Key Responsibilities: Design assembly fixtures; rubber press form blocks; welding jigs; check fixture, gauges, and any other tools used to support production activity
Develop and maintain a record of materials, detailed assembly & component drawings
Review designs and drawings from peers and provide feedback
Create 3D parametric CAD models of tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks
Monitor and control tool development process from concept to release into production
Ensure compliance with applicable specifications and standards
Communicate and coordinate internally and with our vendors
Capable of supporting multiple projects at different stages of maturity
Perform any other related project or task as required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in tooling design
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied sciences and or a Tech Diploma or equivalent
Must have experience in Solidworks parametric design including complex assemblies
Proficient in interpretation of drawings Conditions: Shift work may be required based on company requirements
Work to be performed in noisy and often warm production areas, including working with chemicals — all PPE is required at all times
Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 40 lbs
This position requires the ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time
Eyesight must be sufficient to be able to read fine print and blueprint details
