The Vice
President, Finance oversees HomeEd’s finance, accounting, compliance and risk management activities. As a member of HomeEd’s executive team, this individual will play an instrumental role in the management and growth of the organisation. Following a successful probationary period, the individual will be appointed as HomeEd’s Chief Financial Officer .
Financial
Strategy and Accounting Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Analyse financial and operational data against budget and KPIs within the required timelines. Coordinate the Corporation's annual audit, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
Oversee the Corporation's payroll service and ensure corporate adherence to employment legislation. Treasury, Capital, and Risk Management Oversee treasury operations, including cash management and funding of capital projects.
Actively monitor cash flows, developing and managing policies, processes, and risks related to accounts payable and receivable.
Manage and track the performance of invested assets and reserves in keeping with policies and investment expectations. Collaborate with HomeEd’s Executive Team on the planning, analysis, transacting and funding of capital projects including property acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and annual operating activities. Secure loans and grants to finance growth projects and operations.
Manage
HomeEd’s insurance policies and relationships, ensuring effective risk mitigation and claims management. Oversee the Corporate Risk Register, assessing new and ongoing risks to the Corporation and recommending mitigation measures. Manage the use, maintenance, and upgrade of financial and information technology systems.
Assess the chance for, and lead the implementation of, advanced analytics, digitisation, and/or automation of work activities. Oversee the collection, organization, privacy, and security of internal and external data for use by HomeEd. Manage lender, banking, tax and regulatory reporting relationships, ensuring all reporting requirements are achieved.
Monitor and ensure compliance with purchasing authority and contract management protocols. Manage a team of direct and indirect reports to achieve departmental and organisational outcomes. Provide guidance and coaching to develop staff, promote teamwork, and manage performance.
Prioritise the safety of self and all employees by following HomeEd’s safety protocols and policies. Serve as a member of the Executive Team, actively contributing to the development and improvement of corporate strategies, policies, and positions. Participate in and carry direct responsibility for a variety of corporate initiatives and projects. public sector accounting experience is preferred. ~10+ years in accounting and finance with proven work experience in a senior management role; preference for experience in real estate development and/or property management. ~ Proven expertise in assembling and managing project financing, preferably for the development and acquisition of real estate. ~ Demonstrated knowledge and sound understanding of risk management and internal controls. ~ Experience and understanding of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (preference for Yardi), alongside other information systems and analytics platforms. ~ Preference for familiarity with non-profit environments, including reporting to a Board of Directors and regulatory agencies. to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; In order to perform the duties of this position, the employee will need to be able to see in the normal visual range, with or without correction, and to hear in the normal audio range, with or without correction.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Part of your job will be to work with people in high-risk situations and the vulnerable sector, which requires a criminal record check. The job requires some travel.
As such, the position should have regular access to a reliable vehicle and must possess a driver's license valid in the Province of Alberta and appropriate vehicle insurance as per HomeEd policies. Evening and weekend availability may be required. #
