The Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Duties include:Preparing P&ID; inputs and instrument selectionDeveloping and reviewing instrument index, instrument F&G; and analyzer datasheets and inline instrument sizingCreating and reviewing I/O list and assignments, instrument wiring drawings and loop diagrams and instrument UPS load requirements listsPreparing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for field instruments and control systemsDesigning DCS, SIS/SDS/ESD and PLC control systemsReviewing cable schedulePreparing I&C; specification and design criteriaPreparing shutdown key and cause and effect diagramPreparing control narrative and philosophyDesigning Control systems, fiber optic panels and termination drawingsDesigning control system/ network architecturesPreparing engineering work packagesReviewing instrument location drawings and wiring drawingsProviding technical support to vendors for DCS/SIS/FG panels design and fabrication,



and mechanical/electrical equipmentDeveloping the process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unitProviding comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirementsParticipating in the design of component parts and individual unitsExercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specificationsReviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project managementSupervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process unitsPerforming detailed calculationsParticipating in design reviews and HAZOPs as requiredProviding technical guidance to junior staffInterfacing with client representativesMaintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standardsReviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirementsApplying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasksAdhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standardsAssigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacyActively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of workPreparing or assisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposalsProviding construction supportAuthenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as requiredPerforming other duties as requestedRequirements
Eight years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industryBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied scienceAbility to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical,



Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnelP.Eng. registration with APEGA (Preferred) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)Proficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detailSelf‑motivated and efficient in time managementStrong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standardsAbility to meet safety requirements to attend site visitsPreferred
Eight years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five or more years of experience in the energy industryWhy People Like Working with Us
