You are a skilled Journeyperson or Apprentice Linesperson who supports the construction, installation, and maintenance of overhead and underground powerlines in Saskatchewan. You enjoy working at heights, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring that electrical and communication systems are installed safely and to industry standards. Responsibilities
- Construct, install, inspect, and maintain overhead and underground power distribution systems
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including bucket trucks, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, digger derrick trucks, all‑terrain track machines, and trackhoes
- Troubleshoot and repair distribution powerlines
- Transport materials used for the installation of electrical systems (overhead/underground)
- Read and interpret construction drawings, work plans, and schematics
- Track daily production, material usage, and support logistics and crew coordination
- Follow and promote strict safety practices, adhering to all OH&S; standards
- Train and support junior workers or apprentices on proper work practices
Qualifications
- Journeyman Powerline Technician certification or enrollment/interest in a lineman apprenticeship program
- 1–3 years of experience in powerline construction (or strong interest with technical training)
- Ability to climb poles using spikes and rigging and to work from bucket trucks or man‑lifts
- Strong knowledge of distribution powerline construction methods, tools, and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 1 or 3 preferred
- Able and willing to provide an acceptable five‑year Driver's Abstract
- Physically able to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Work Conditions
- Outdoor work in diverse and sometimes extreme weather
- Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet project deadlines
- Ability to work long shifts, 10–12 hour days, in all types of weather
- Ability to travel extensively across Saskatchewan; travel to job sites will be required depending on project location
This position is considered a safety‑sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre‑employment/pre‑access medical test that includes a drug and alcohol screening, as well as hearing.
