Lab Patient Technician

Temporary position. Schedule varies by operational demand—0-20 hours per week. Float role requires travel between Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, Aylmer, Delhi, and Norwich, Ontario. Number of openings: 1. Start date: ASAP. End date: Approximately 1 year.

Responsibilities

- Greet and request required information from patients, explain specimen collection process, and ensure patient compliance prior to collection.
- Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Perform special test collections such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
- Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
- Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other data related to processing test results.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Qualifications

- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent (preferred).
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
- ECG training or experience is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
- Solid customer/patient service orientation with ability to relate to patients and clients in stressful situations.
- Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change,



and problem solving skills.
- Ability to maintain strict standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
