Application Deadline:02/26/2026 Address:100 King Street West Job Family Group:Legal BMO Financial Group is seeking a full-time lawyer to join the legal team in Toronto as Senior Counsel responsible for providing legal support, with a focus on derivatives, to BMO Global Asset Management’s (BMO GAM) manufacturing of retail and institutional investment products, including the BMO Mutual Funds, BMO Exchange Traded Funds, BMO AM Pooled Funds and alternative products. You will deliver expert and experienced legal support to BMO GAM’s Canadian business, operations and corporate affairs, with a focus on: acting as a subject matter expert on relevant laws, regulations and policies relating to listed and OTC derivatives, including options, forward contracts, futures, swaps and other derivatives instrumentsdrafting and negotiating derivatives documentation, including ISDAs, credit support annexes, account control agreements, broker agreements, onboarding documents and ancillary documentationderivatives transactional support, with a focus on equity and interest rate derivatives, including drafting and reviewing ISDA trade confirmationsadvising on a wide array of existing and new derivatives laws and regulatory initiatives, including trade reporting, margin requirements and compliance with National Instrument 81-102 Investment Fundsproviding legal and regulatory advice on new and existing investment products, initiatives, strategies, policies and developmentsidentifying risks and implementing appropriate actions to mitigate themimplementing areas of improvement to ensure consistency with industry practice when dealing with counterpartiesbuilding effective relationships with internal/external stakeholdersinstructing and managing external legal counselbroader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed This position will not be responsible for litigation matters.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
