Retail Salesperson and Visual Merchandiser

Minimum of 1 year of on‑the‑job training specializing in merchandising and marketing of baked goods.

Task

- Retail sales: greet customers and discuss their desired merchandise; advise on quality and ingredients; provide specialized product information; package baked goods for purchase.
- Cash handling: prepare sales and accept cash, credit card or automatic debit payment.
- Display management: lead in display of baked goods and other items for sale, design and implement window and interior displays, assemble visual retail displays to promote products, promotional events and seasonal changes.
- Brand compliance:



ensure visual displays comply with brand guidelines and standards, including organization’s culture, image and target market.
- Lighting and atmosphere: set up lighting systems to create a visual atmosphere; ensure all displays are clean and presentable.
- Marketing: utilize effective marketing to maximize sales of baked goods and products.
- Inventory: maintain sales records for inventory control; operate computerized inventory record‑keeping and re‑ordering systems for replenishing inventory.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

- High volume bakery; physical demand to meet product output and customer needs: move quickly, stand for long periods, bend, crouch, kneel, walk continuously, lift bags up to 20 kg.
- Shifts: available to work regular operating hours between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., including varying shifts as scheduled to meet operational requirements.
