Take on a key role as a Provincial Adjudicator in Halifax, overseeing disciplinary decisions in correctional facilities. This term position involves adjudicating approximately 15 cases daily while ensuring compliance and fairness.
As a Provincial Adjudicator with the Department of Justice, you will report to the Chief Superintendent and manage province-wide hearings for persons in custody. In this role, your responsibilities include reviewing cases and recommending policy enhancements, while upholding principles of natural justice. The position requires a strong background in corrections or criminal justice, along with effective crisis management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adjudicate disciplinary infractions across adult correctional facilities
• Conduct hearings via video conference or in person
• Ensure compliance with Correctional Services regulations
• Recommend and develop relevant policies and procedures
• Audit disciplinary processes for adherence to standards
Requirements:
• University degree in a related field required
• Experience in a correctional facility management
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and safety
• Skills in case management and adjudications
• Valid driver’s license and background checks required
