Food Service Worker – Sechelt Hospital, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Sechelt, BC

Salary: CAD $25.82 per hour.

This is a casual/on‑call position within a unionised environment. All vacancies are posted internally for current employees to apply.

Responsibilities

- Portion and serve meals; check patient/resident meals for dietary accuracy.
- Assist with food production by washing, peeling, slicing, dicing, grinding, blending, and pureeing vegetables, fruit, and other ingredients.
- Prepare coffee/tea, toast, desserts, sandwiches, salads, and diet items in accordance with nutritional plans.
- Wash dishes, pots, and kitchen equipment; clean food wagons, fridges, storage areas, tables, and counters.
- Sweep and mop floors; remove garbage.
- Deliver wagons/trays to patient/resident units; retrieve and store food items.
- Replenish food, beverage, and paper supplies.
- Perform related clerical duties; operate a cash register and related equipment, receive payments and provide change.
- Answer customer queries.

Qualifications





- Grade 10 plus one year of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Food Safe Certificate Level 1.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organise work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
