Job Description
The Site Superintendent, based either out of our London or Cambridge office, and assigned to project sites across Southern Ontario, is responsible for the on-site leadership, coordination, and execution of construction activities. The Site Superintendent will be reporting to the Field Operations Manager.
The Superintendent ensures that all site operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, schedules, and applicable regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Ontario Building Code.
This role requires strong leadership, hands-on problem solving, and the ability to coordinate multiple trades while maintaining quality, schedule adherence, and a culture of safety.

Key Responsibilities
1. Site Leadership & Coordination
- Oversee daily site operations and sequencing of trades.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow and minimal disruption.
- Lead daily site meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and professionalism.
2. Health & Safety Management
- Champion and enforce a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company safety policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and toolbox talks.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions immediately.
- Ensure proper documentation of incidents and safety records.
3. Quality Control & Inspections
- Ensure all work complies with drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed work.
- Coordinate municipal inspections and consultant site reviews.
- Manage deficiencies and ensure timely resolution.
4. Schedule & Productivity Management
- Monitor progress against the project schedule.
- Identify delays and implement recovery strategies.
- Coordinate manpower levels and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to maintain schedule integrity.
5. Material & Equipment Management
- Coordinate material deliveries and site logistics.
- Ensure long-lead items are received and stored appropriately.
- Monitor equipment usage and site access.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily site reports.
- Track manpower, weather conditions, and site activities.
- Document field changes and communicate impacts to the Project Manager.
- Assist with project closeout documentation and turnover.
7. Internal Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
The Site Superintendent works closely with internal departments to ensure successful project execution:
Project Managers
- Provide daily updates on progress, risks, and site conditions.
- Collaborate on schedule adjustments and cost-impact decisions.
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Provide constructability feedback and lessons learned.
- Support scope clarification during project handover.
Safety Department
- Implement site-specific safety plans.
- Support audits and safety reporting requirements.
Accounting & Finance
- Assist with verification of completed work for billing purposes.
- Track labour and production quantities as required.
Senior Leadership
- Escalate critical site issues proactively.
- Contribute to company-wide quality and operational improvements.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Construction-related diploma or trade certification preferred.
Experience
- 7–15+ years of progressive field experience in commercial or institutional construction.
- Minimum 5 years in a Superintendent or foreperson leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage multiple trades on active job sites.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario safety regulations and building requirements.
- Scheduling and sequencing expertise.

Working Conditions
- Based out of the London or Cambridge Office (depending on your location) with primary work occurring on active project sites across Ontario.
- Primarily field-based role.
- Extended hours may be required to maintain schedule commitments.

Compensation Range
- We are recruiting to fill an open position within the team.
- Role offers a compensation range of $90,000 - $140,000 annually
- Comprehensive health benefits package, including a $1,000 annual flexcare health spending account (eligibility begins after 3 months)
- Employee / Employer-matched RRSP/DPSP program up to 3% of annual base salary (eligibility begins after 3 months)
- Every other Friday off through our alternating 4-day work week policy, contingent on workload and business needs. Excludes weeks with statutory holidays.
