- Monday to Friday: 8:00AM - 4:15PM

Requirements

- Must be available to work a full shift
- Must have a Class 5F (Full) Driver's License
- Certificate or diploma in Practical Horticulture or Grounds Keeping, or applicable grounds keeping experience will be considered

Position Summary

- Provides services in accordance with the Mission and Values of St.Amant, the goals and objectives of Corporate Resource Services and promotes a customer service focus in the provision of indirect services to the people we support at St.Amant, our visitors and customers.
- The Groundskeeper is responsible for working collaboratively with the Facility Manager, Maintenance Lead Hand and coworkers of Facility Services to support St.Amant by providing excellent customer service when performing the range of duties and responsibilities as outlined in this job description.

Qualifications

Educational

- Recognized certificate or diploma in Practical Horticulture or Grounds Keeping, or applicable grounds keeping experience will be considered
- Grade XII Diploma or Certificate
- Proficiency in the English language that enables the incumbent to complete any reading and or writing requirements necessary to perform all aspects of the position in a safe and timely manner

Professional

- Several years work experience in grounds keeping and small engine repair
- Experience with and operational knowledge of mechanical equipment and tools used in the maintenance of the property
- Experience in repair and maintenance of grounds keeping equipment
- Experience with minor upkeep of vehicles, snowmobile and tractor
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work procedures
- Ability to record data manually and using various software programs
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license

- Communicates professionally with customers,



coworkers and external partners and establishes and maintains effective working relationships
- Functions effectively as a team member and demonstrates a strong collaborative approach to problem solving
- Correctly interprets and applies the policies, procedures, laws and regulations including but not limited to safety, routine work responsibilities, prevention and maintenance programs, clients and staff
- Sits, stands, walks, kneels, crouches, squats, crawls, twists and climbs as necessary to perform work responsibilities in a timely manner
- Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty environment both inside and outside, and in confining spaces
- Physically capable of meeting the demands of the position and in good health and able to maintain a satisfactory attendance record

Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensures the Greenhouse, Garage, Storage Shed and Compound are kept clean and orderly at the end of each day
- Retrieves Work Requests from the HIPPO Maintenance Management System regularly throughout the normal working day
- Responds to all types of maintenance Work Orders as assigned by the Shop Head or Designate
- Cuts and trims lawns, plants and waters flowers, fertilizes plants and lawns, maintains shrub beds, removes litter and perform other related grounds maintenance duties indoors and outdoors
- Maintains indoor gardens and courtyard
- Maintains playground areas
- Plants trees, shrubs, flowers, installs sod and performs other related landscaping duties
- Operates hand mowers, string trimmers, snow blowers, pumps and other small engine powered equipment
- Operates vans, tractors,



riding mowers and related implements
- Clears snow and spreads traction grit in parking lots and at building entrances, sidewalks, stairways and platforms
- Cleans streets, curbs, drains and catch basins
- Cleans and washes vehicles
- Assists with special event setup when needed
- Moves materials and equipment as required

Conditions of Employment
