The Opportunity

Palm Holdings is seeking a hands-on Construction Site Supervisor to lead day-to-day field execution of a large, phased renovation of guestrooms, corridors and public areas at the Westin Edmonton. The successful candidate will protect schedule, quality, safety and the guest experience while coordinating trades in an operating hotel. After the Edmonton assignment, the role will support renovation and capital projects across Palm Holdings’ Canadian and U.S. portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Field leadership and coordination

- Take day-to-day ownership of the site and serve as the on-site point of coordination for Palm Holdings, the hotel team, consultants, contractors, vendors and brand representatives.
- Plan and sequence phased work in guestrooms, corridors and public areas, including room/floor turnovers, shutdowns, access routes, hoarding, deliveries, debris removal and after-hours work.
- Lead daily coordination and regular trade meetings; issue clear meeting minutes, action lists, daily reports and two- to six-week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate work around hotel operations, events, occupancy, quiet hours, life-safety requirements and guest/associate circulation.

Schedule, cost and change control

- Maintain the site schedule, measure actual progress against plan and escalate risks early with practical recovery options.
- Verify labour and material readiness, track long-lead items and coordinate deliveries, storage, protection and installation sequencing.
- Review field conditions, RFIs, proposed changes, time-and-material tickets and contractor claims; document scope, pricing and schedule impacts before work proceeds where practicable.
- Confirm completed quantities and support review of progress draws, change orders, forecasts and cost-to-complete reporting.

Quality and technical execution

- Confirm work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, brand standards, codes, permits and manufacturer instructions.




- Manage mock-ups and first-room / first-area reviews; establish approved quality benchmarks before repetitive work begins.
- Inspect work continuously, maintain deficiency and punch lists with owners and due dates, and prevent concealment of non-conforming work.
- Coordinate consultant inspections, testing, commissioning, authority approvals and close-out documentation, including warranties, manuals and as-built records.

Safety, protection and hotel operations

- Enforce the project health and safety plan, site orientation, hazard assessments, incident reporting, housekeeping and contractor compliance with applicable provincial/state and federal requirements.
- Maintain fire/life-safety systems, egress, accessibility, indoor air quality, dust/noise/odour control and temporary protection appropriate to an occupied hotel.
- Coordinate utility and system shutdowns through approved procedures and ensure timely communication to hotel operations.
- Protect existing finishes, guestrooms, public areas, equipment and guest property; investigate and document damage or incidents promptly.

Reporting and close-out

- Provide Sherif Omar with concise, accurate reporting on safety, manpower, progress, schedule, budget risks, procurement, quality, decisions required and upcoming milestones.
- Maintain organized site records, including current drawings, submittals, RFIs, permits, inspection reports, photos, delivery records, meeting minutes and change documentation.
- Lead phased turnover, training, punch-list completion and final close-out while minimizing out-of-order room days and operational disruption.

Qualifications and experience

- At least 7 years of construction experience, including 3 or more years in a site superintendent or site supervisor role on commercial renovation projects.
- Demonstrated experience with occupied hotel renovations is strongly preferred; large-scale guestroom,



corridor and public-area renovation experience is a significant asset.
- Robust working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, architectural finishes, building systems, accessibility, fire/life safety and applicable building codes.
- Ability to read and coordinate drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals and schedules, and to identify constructability conflicts before they affect the work.
- Proven ability to supervise multiple trades, hold contractors accountable and resolve field issues decisively and professionally.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, documentation and computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and common scheduling, drawing and project-management platforms is preferred.
- Valid driver’s licence and passport, and ability to travel frequently and work for extended periods at project sites in Canada and the United States.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Ability to work in the United States, or eligibility to obtain the required authorization, is an asset and will be considered based on project needs.
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights and weekends when shutdowns, life-safety work or hotel operations require it.

Success in the role

Safety: No preventable incidents; hazards and non-compliance are addressed immediately.

Schedule: Phased areas are released on time, with credible look-aheads and early escalation of slippage.

Quality: Mock-up standards are maintained; rework and recurring deficiencies are minimized.

Hotel impact: Guest disruption, shutdown risk and out-of-order room days are actively minimized.

Cost control: Changes and field conditions are documented before they become unplanned cost.

Communication: Leadership and hotel operations receive timely, accurate information and clear decisions required.
