Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Property accountant to support daily operations across office administration, residential tenancy management, accounts receivable and payable, and legal documentation. This role requires strong communication skills, a high level of accuracy in financial processing, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced property management environment. The role requires a minimum of three years of experience.
$75-$85k
Key Responsibilities
Office Administration
- Maintain organized filing systems for renewals, letters, leases, invoices, and other documents.
- Prepare tenant correspondence such as reference letters, proposals, account balances, and explanations of charges or LMR interest calculations.
- Communicate with social workers regarding tenants receiving government advantages.
- Distribute cheques to contractors.
Residential Administration
- Manage tenant move‑ins and move‑outs, including setting up lease charges and anniversary dates for interest.
- Apply LMR deposits for tenants on notice.
- Complete deposit accounting and close accounts for past tenants.
- Process cheque requisitions for refunds.
- Maintain and update tenant records.
- Process, print, and file monthly rent rolls.
Accounts Receivable
- Post monthly lease charges, prepayments, credits, and tenant adjustments (keys, lights, parking, damages).
- Post LMR interest and prepare Form N1.
- Monitor unpaid rent reports and initiate legal processes when required.
- Contact tenants regarding unpaid rents.
- Prepare Form N4, N8, and Certificates of Service.
- Preparing form N4 and Certificate of Service.
- Verify and deposit cheques processed by staff.
- Respond to emails from tenants and contractors.
- Rent & Billing: Set up pre-authorized payments, process rent cheques, and handle Interac payments.
- Match RentCafe deposits with bank statements and manually input Tenant Pay Deposits.
- Prepare and file month‑end reports and close the month.
Accounts Payable
- Prepare documentation for legal matters and forward files to legal counsel.
- Prepare legal documents for delivery to tenants.
- Monitor and attend court hearings as required.
Legal Administration
- Track and enforce court orders.
- Prepare documentation for the Sheriff’s office and collection agencies.
Qualifications
- Experience in property management, accounting and administrative roles preferred.
- Proficiency with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
- A degree in accounting or minimum diploma is required.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
