Take on a leadership role in biodiversity science at UBC Okanagan. The Applied Biodiversity Science Lead is responsible for advancing collaborative monitoring and research projects in a community-focused setting.
Based within the Okanagan Institute for Biodiversity, Resilience, and Ecosystem Services, this position requires a solid background in ecological science and excellent data skills. You will engage with Indigenous communities and other partners to guide biodiversity monitoring initiatives. The role demands effective communication and project management abilities to ensure impactful research outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead applied wildlife monitoring and biodiversity research projects
• Manage data pipelines and perform statistical analyses




• Facilitate knowledge-sharing with Indigenous communities
• Develop project proposals and manage budgets
• Prepare technical reports and scientific publications
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in a related field; 3+ years of experience
• Proficiency in programming languages for data analysis (R/Python)
• Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of Indigenous data sovereignty principles
