Our client is seeking a General Superintendent to provide strategic leadership and oversight across multiple heavy civil construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while leading Superintendents and field teams. Working closely with Operations, Project Management, and project stakeholders, the General Superintendent will drive operational excellence, optimize resource planning, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure successful project execution from planning through completion. This position follows a 14 days on / 7 days off (14/7) rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Superintendents and field leadership teams to drive operational excellence
- Oversee multiple heavy civil construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
- Monitor project performance, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to maintain project objectives
- Lead project planning, forecasting, scheduling, resource allocation, and overall construction execution throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate field operations while maintaining effective communication with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Conduct regular site meetings,
establish clear priorities, and reinforce safety, quality, and performance expectations
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and industry regulations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while supporting continuous improvement and operational efficiency across projects
Qualifications
- Completion of a Construction, Technical Diploma, C.E.T., Engineering Degree, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, including earthworks, mine support services, road construction, and site development
- Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Proven leadership experience managing Superintendents, field teams, and large-scale construction projects
- Excellent planning, organizational, delegation, and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments
- Robust communication and relationship-building skills with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Ability to effectively manage schedules, budgets, resources, and competing project priorities
- Commitment to workplace safety with CSTS and OSSA certifications or the ability to meet site safety requirements
