Position: Chief Human Resources Officer (1-Year Term)

Department: C-Suite

Job Classification: Full-Time (Safety Sensitive)

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary: The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is responsible for leading and overseeing all human resources functions of the organization, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and compliance. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CHRO serves as a trusted advisor to the executive team and plays a key role in developing and maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture. This position is responsible for creating and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs that support the organization's goals while attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing workforce.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team, providing strategic leadership on human resources and organizational matters.

• Develop and implement talent management strategies, including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, professional development, performance management, and retention.

• Lead the development, administration, and continuous improvement of HR policies, programs, systems, and processes that support organizational and workforce objectives.

• Oversee compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs while ensuring employees understand organizational expectations through effective policies, job descriptions, and performance management practices.

• Foster a positive, diverse,



equitable, and inclusive workplace culture by supporting managers and employees in resolving workplace, performance, and employee relations issues.

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, Alberta, and Saskatchewan employment legislation, identify and mitigate employment-related risks, and recommend HR best practices that enhance organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Strategic Management, or a related field; CHRP or CHRL designation required.

• Minimum five (5) years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities and experience working within an HR team.

• Strong knowledge of federal, Alberta, and Saskatchewan employment legislation, human rights requirements, and HR best practices. Strong understanding of First Nation Governance Structure.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies, policies, programs, and performance management processes.

• Strong leadership, employee relations, conflict resolution, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
